Some things are worth repeating, like the fact that the Nissan Pathfinder has won a top safety award for yet another year. 

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder as one of its 2025 Top Safety Pick+ winners in the Midsized SUV category.

The IIHS is an industry group that has conducted crash tests and evaluated safety equipment on new vehicles since 1995. Their two awards, Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+, are highly sought after by auto manufacturers, and the IIHS has made it tougher every year to earn one. In fact, last year at this time, 71 vehicles had qualified, but this year, only 48 have. 

“We’re once again challenging automakers to make their new models even safer than those they were building a year ago,” IIHS President David Harkey said. “Every vehicle that earns a 2025 award offers a high level of safety in both the front seat and the second row.”

 

Winning a Top Safety Pick+ required that the Nissan Pathfinder earned:

 

• A Good rating on the moderate overlap front crash test
• A Good rating in the small overlap front test
• A Good rating in the updated side test (tougher this year!)
• An Acceptable or good on standard headlights
• An Acceptable or good in pedestrian front crash pedestrian test
  
  

The Top Safety Pick designation requires just an Acceptable rating on the moderate overlap front crash test. 

The 2025 Pathfinder also won the National Highway Safety Administration’s 5-Star Overall Vehicle Safety Rating this year. With three-row seating, up to 6,000 lbs. of towing power, Intelligent 4x4, and a price starting at less than $40,000, the Pathfinder is a true find (pun intended) as a family vehicle.
