Navigating the New Tariff Landscape: How Nissan is Responding
In our previous blog, we discussed the implementation of the 25% tariff on imported vehicles and what it might mean for car buyers. Now that these tariffs have officially taken effect as of April 3rd, we want to keep our Schomp Nissan customers informed about how Nissan is specifically responding to these changes.
Nissan's Customer-First Approach
Nissan has taken a proactive stance to help customers during what they've called a "challenging car-buying landscape." The automaker has reduced prices on two of its bestselling models:
- The Rogue compact SUV has received price cuts ranging from $640 to $1,930
- The larger three-row Pathfinder's prices have been lowered by $670 to $1,170
These price reductions on U.S.-built models demonstrate Nissan's commitment to maintaining value for customers despite industry-wide challenges.
Understanding Which Models Are Affected
It's important to note that both the Rogue and Pathfinder are primarily built in the United States at Nissan's Tennessee facilities (though some Rogues are also built in Japan). As U.S.-assembled vehicles, these models won't face the direct 25% tariff on imported vehicles.
However, Nissan's more affordable models—the Kicks, Sentra, and Versa—are all imported from Mexico, which means they will be subject to the new tariffs. The impact on pricing for these models is still developing, and we'll continue to provide updates as we receive them.
What This Means for You at Schomp Nissan
If you've been considering a new Nissan Rogue or Pathfinder, now might be an excellent time to take advantage of the reduced pricing on these popular models. Our current inventory of vehicles that arrived before April 3rd will not be subject to the tariff increases, regardless of their origin.
