Looking for a Safe Vehicle for a Teen? The Nissan Pathfinder Gets Top Marks

Published on Jun 24, 2026 by Schomp Nissan

Whether it’s a family car or just for your teenage driver, safety is a big concern when choosing a new vehicle. How much a vehicle costs is right up there, too. So it’s helpful to get recommendations from respected independent consumer evaluation organizations.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Consumer Reports (CR) collaborate on an annual “Best New Vehicles for Teens” list, and Schomp Nissan is thrilled that the 2026 Nissan Pathfinder three-row SUV was recognized. The 2026 Pathfinder is one of the IIHS’s TOP SAFETY PICK+ designees, an award given to vehicles that earn top scores on rigorous crash tests. And after putting the Pathfinder through its own rigorous testing, CR gave it a Safety Verdict of “Best.” Every “Best New Vehicles for Teens” winner has a starting price of less than $45K. The Pathfinder also got a Five-Star Safety Rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Consumers are also noticing that the Nissan Pathfinder is a standout in a very competitive automotive segment. Sales have increased 95% year over year. The Pathfinder is built in the USA at our Smyrna, Tennessee plant and has a starting price of less than $40,000. But that’s not all!
